Abstract

This systematic review presents the results of studies on the effects of parenteral and oral rabies vaccination on the protective immunity and antibody titres in dogs. It was shown that efficacy of parenteral and oral vaccination was lower compared to intramuscular vaccination. The efficacy of the vaccines were better confirmed when the vaccination dogs were exposed to the Rabies virus. While some of the vaccines were potential candidates for vaccination, more studies are needed on oral vaccination using the same vaccines and the methods, but with more control and experimental animals.
